Reference and Circulating Collection

The PJRC collection consists of more than 4,600 reference volumes, in over 20 different languages on Central and Eastern Europe. The primary emphasis is on up-to-date information. There are diverse encyclopedias, bibliographies, biographical dictionaries, yearbooks, language dictionaries and other similar reference aids.

The collection is for reference use only, thus non-circulating. All materials must be used in PJRC.

The main circulating collection of Central and East European material is in the Robarts Library stacks arranged by the Library of Congress (LC) classification. Material on Slavic and Baltic languages (subclass PG) is located on the 12th floor; material on the history of Eastern Europe (subclass DJK); Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (subclass DB); Russia, the Soviet Union, the former Soviet republics, and Poland (subclass DK); and the Balkans (subclass DR), is located on the 10th floor.
